Why Am I Here?

Only those very close to me (my family and my twitter followers) know that I have created this blog and my website in hopes of connecting with other authors out there that are or want to be published. The venue of publishing can be frustrating any form, really. I have been a serious writer for the past seven years and the frustrations of mainstream publishing can be somewhat overwhelming. So, a few months ago, on a fluke, I decided to download a podcast by Michell Plested called Get Published available through iTunes. I was instantly hooked. I finally could hear from another person, just like me, who was working his way through the publishing world and realizing his dream.

Any writer will tell you that all they want to do is write. Well, of course! Writing is a writer's passion.  I don't mean writing a letter to an editor of a newspaper or composing an email at work, I mean the gritty world of creating a new world for someone else to escape into. I mean developing a character who eventually turns into a real person in the author's mind and begins to tell the story for the author. I mean the type of story that makes the reader say "WOW! Now that was a good read!".

Now, if you are a fellow writer and have already tried to whole finding an agent or publisher thing, I'm right there with you! I have two completed novels and have submitted them over the years to various agents only to receive the traditional form letter back in the mail. After being in a writer's slump for the past year, I have now made the decision that I will complete a new endeavor in a genre that I love to read; Science Fiction/Horror. After completing this new novel, I will self publish it via the ebook world. This mountain that I am gearing up to climb will not be easy, I know, but I have characters in my heart that are pulling at me to tell their story so others can read about them. I have no choice, they have taken over!

That all being said, I am here writing this blog and will be here every week adding to it as I walk down the road of self-publishing. I hope you watch and see what happens!
